Post-Summer Skincare

With changing seasonal conditions, our skincare routine should also change according to the needs of our skin. As we prepare our skin, damaged by the sun's rays, for winter, the steps and ingredients we must not omit from our routine should be those that help our skin renew itself and become saturated with moisture. When we say skincare, we should not only think of the face but the entire body, as the moisture needs of our body can increase in colder, drier winter months. If we look at a few prominent ingredients I recommend for skincare;

  1. Retinoid derivatives; This active ingredient, which we can simply call vitamin A derivatives, is suitable for use in all four seasons for those who use it regularly, but for those who are just starting, we recommend starting use after summer. Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, is the most effective retinoid derivative found in cosmetics with the lowest risk of irritation. Encapsulated forms are the most suitable option for less irritation and stronger effects. Again, nourishing and soothing ingredients in the product can be preferred. Retinols are among the favorite ingredients of us dermatologists for many skin conditions such as photoaging, acne, and spots.
  2. Acid derivatives; There are many alternatives such as Beta Hydroxy acids for oily-combination skin, mandelic acid for blemish-prone skin, or Azelaic acid for skin imperfections that progress with sensitivity. If we use the right acid in the right amount, we can achieve the desired results. Consulting your dermatologist for this will always be beneficial.
  3. Moisturization; We should not forget to moisturize our face, neck, and entire body with a strong moisturizer containing active ingredients such as ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Especially in areas where dryness is intense, such as our hands, we should regularly use moisturizer.

It is possible to protect our skin from the conditions created by the seasons with the right ingredients and moisturization.
